Why You (Still) Need to Believe in Miracles

Have you given up expecting the best because you consistently keep experiencing the worst?

Have you resolved yourself to having “low to no” expectations to avoid the pain and disappointment of having high expectations?

It’s real and it’s human but what if it’s divine to resist?

In the book of Matthew it is written, Jesus “did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.” (Matt 13:58)

Said another way, because they didn’t expect miracles, they didn’t get (many) miracles.

You won’t see what you don’t seek.

You will only receive on the level you believe - if you expect nothing, you’re more likely to get nothing.

The reality is even on our best days, our capacity to believe will never be on par with the grace anchored reality of what we receive. Still God is inviting you (right now) to recalibrate your faith.

Faith transcends matter(s), …circumstances, patterns, history, because it is the visible birth of a pregnant belief in the power of God to transcend the limits of man. The limits of (hu)man’s images (sight) and imagination (dreams).

What will it look like for you resurrect your belief in (the power of) the waymaker and miracle worker, we call God?

Here are 2 ways:

  1. Divine Bookkeeping: Start a running list of miracles in your notes app and define miracle as “an unexpected or surprising occurrence that you commit to give God (and not coincidence) credit for.

  2. Divine Seeking: Asking for God’s Help in Prayer — save and recite the following when feel the pull of low expectations of God:

The Prayer of Awe

“Lord, I expect to encounter you today in ways I do not expect. Lord, help me to understand I consistently walk in miracles I cannot detect.

Jesus Christ, Hallowed be thy name, help us to live in daily acknowledgment of this refrain.

Jesus Christ, Hallowed be thy name, help us to live with an expectant awe in the power of your name.

No coincidences or circumstances can ever lay claim, to the unlimited tangible reminders of the miracle working power of your name.

May we live with awe, may we part with unbelief,

In Jesus’ Name, we pray, Amen and Amen”
